Raised in a veterinarian’s home, Mark F. Magazu, II, MPA, JD, understands the veterinary profession from the inside out. For clients of M3, he architects solutions to pressing challenges, helping leaders navigate disruption and build resilient organizations. His background spans finance, law, technology, operations, and governance — giving him a vantage point few in the field share. His aim: bring clarity and structure to complexity, translate vision into action, and make transformation sustainable.
As CEO of the renowned Saint Francis Veterinary Center for a decade, Mark applied systems thinking to the profession’s hardest challenges — with results that earned unprecedented recognition as a three-time finalist (2012, 2014, 2019) and 2019 winner of AAHA’s North American Accredited Practice of the Year Award. At Thrive Pet Healthcare, he served as Area Business Manager overseeing practices in the Northeast and later as Director of Partnerships, reporting to the Chief Development Officer. Earlier, he founded and led Atlas Strategies, a general business consulting firm headquartered in the Empire State Building. He worked as a certified Financial Consultant with Wells Fargo Advisors and advised the Chairman of Chileno Bay Family Office, in both roles focusing on high-net-worth investment strategy. He also served as a speechwriter for former U.S. Senator, Cabinet Secretary, and Red Cross Chairman Elizabeth Dole and for the President of Georgetown University. Early in his career, he completed internships with the White House Council of Economic Advisers, a U.S. Congressman, and the Council on Foreign Relations.
Mark frequently writes on veterinary innovation, leadership, and organizational systems through FutureVet Insights, M3’s publication on the future of the profession.
Mark earned a JD from Georgetown Law and a joint BA–MPA in Political Economy and Public Administration from Columbia University. He completed advanced post-graduate programs at MIT Sloan and Harvard Business School. He is a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt and holds certificates in machine learning, AI, and quantum computing from MIT, in digital transformation in healthcare from Harvard Medical School, and in advanced digital marketing and growth from Penn Wharton.
Like all sons and daughters of veterinarians, Mark’s home has always been filled with ‘broken’ animals of all kinds. Today he is loved (and occasionally tormented) by Max, a blind but remarkably precise cat; Rocket, a ferret with cat-burglar ambitions but dodo-level acumen; and Dolores, a banana-sized lizard who has been courageously — and successfully — kicking cancer’s butt for years. Mark is endlessly fascinated by the animals and ecosystems that animate our world, though he denies the rumor that he loves them more than people…only sometimes.
As owner-operators of three award-winning practices -- Saint Francis Veterinary Center, Tri-State Animal Emergency Center, and Swedesboro Animal Hospital -- the Three Ms became known for innovative approaches to medical delivery, hospital operations and workplace culture advancements, including groundbreaking human-veterinary partnerships with institutions like the Health Design Lab of Jefferson Health in Philadelphia and prominent professional athletes, to bring advanced human technologies and approaches to animal healthcare. Featured frequently in the news for initiatives like these, including early adoption of Stem Cell and PRP therapies, 3D printing applications in veterinary medicine, heart surgeries, spine surgeries, and non-profit efforts to ensure that all animals received care at their hospitals regardless of owners ability to pay, the 'Three Ms' of M3 have been at the forefront of technological, operational and veterinary workplace culture advances for decades.
Today, M3 Veterinary Innovation Advisors focuses on researching and promulgating transformative advancements in the field, leveraging emerging technologies such as AI, robotics, augmented reality, and software systems, along with a deep understanding of veterinary economics, labor markets, business practices and workplace culture issues. Their commitment to pushing the boundaries of veterinary care continues to shape the industry and drive innovation forward.
